Pajau Yan

Luck. Health. Changes. No matter what changes may come, you will be at peace.

Pajau Yan is invoked as Lady Moon in Vietnam. She is a benevolent goddess who bestows good health and good fortune among her worshipers. Usually honored on the first day of the waning moon, Pajau Yan is believed to cause lunar eclipses as her way of granting glory to the sun.

According to the story, Pajau Yan used to live on the earth. However, to keep her from bringing the dead back, she was banished to the moon. This suggests that some situations cannot be changed so you just have to make peace with them. Nevertheless, the goddess can still spread goodwill from her celestial home. Similarly, once you adjust to a situation, you have the power to spread love and blessings to all.

Card of the day: PELE – Goddess of Fire

Volcanoes. Passion. Anger. Be empowered by anger.

(Deck: “Goddess Inspiration Oracle” by Kris Waldherr, Llewellyn Worldwide, 2007)

Pele, goddess of fire among the Hawaiians, has the ability to create as well as to destroy. Known for her tempestuous temper and passionate love affairs, she can appear as a beautiful maiden or as an ugly hag with brown skin as coarse as lava. Whatever form Pele assumes, what stands out is the power of her anger.

We tend to immediately brand all anger as negative. However, righteous anger, the kind that arises in response to real social injustices and inequities, can be an exception. Also, if you are angry enough about an issue or situation that you are galvanized into positive action in order to change it, then that anger can be transformative.

Learn to vent your anger in healthy, productive ways but do not automatically dismiss it out of hand. Trace its roots of your anger and try to “analyze” the anger if it has merit. I know it may be difficult to be objective once eruptive feelings are already a-brewing, but your anger can still serve a constructive purpose. Primum non nocere (First do no harm.)

“Use thought, not as willpower, not as concentration, not as coercion, but always with definite direction and conscious intention.” – Ernest Holmes, “Living the Science of Mind,” p. 295

Card of the day: SEKHMET – The Mighty One

Enchantment. Strength. The Underworld. Let your darker emotions bring you strength.

(Deck: “Goddess Inspiration Oracle” by Kris Waldherr, 2007)

Sekhmet is the Goddess of the Underworld and is considered the patroness of mummification. Egyptians see this embalming process as a magical ritual that enabled the body to live forever. Sekhmet is often portrayed as carrying an ankh, a vibrant symbol of eternal life.

Sekhmet, called The Mighty One in Egypt, is also often depicted as a lion-headed woman who delights in war, violence, and enchantment – surely forceful energies used to deploy change in the world.

Similarly, you and I have dark emotions shading our hearts. Are you afraid of them? Or do you choose to use these emotions to give you strength in facing the challenges before you?

In your infinite godlike wisdom, you know that the power of anger and rage can either motivate you into action or drag you to destruction. Henceforth, cultivate the kind of RIGHTEOUS anger or rage that makes you want to actively do something with strength to help alleviate the injustice done towards yourself, your family member or friend, the environment, and the world.

“My mouth shall speak wisdom, and the meditation of my heart shall give understanding. I will incline my ear to a proverb; I will disclose my dark saying on the harp.” – Psalm 49:3-4, NKJV

Week of July 23-29, 2018

Dear Tribe of Stargazers: Mabuhay! The biggest newsmaker for this week is the Full Moon and partial lunar eclipse in Aquarius on July 27th. It is heralded as the “blood moon” due to its rusty or blood red color as it passes under the Earth’s dark shadow during a lunar eclipse. Both students of astrology and astronomy eagerly await an event like this. Astrologically, an eclipse affects us depending on which house of our natal chart/horoscope the eclipse (this at 4 deg. 45 min. Aquarius) falls in. For instance, it falls on my 6th house of daily work and health, so I may expect major changes in those areas. They say, “forewarned is forearmed,” so now I can make preparations. That way, I am not to be totally blindsided if ever those changes occur. So where does this lunar eclipse in 4Aquarius45 fall in your natal chart?

CHANGES: Please take note of my new professional fees (PF). “The times, they are a-changin’.”- Bob Dylan

ARIES (Mar 21-Apr 19) You have the gifts of magic, intuition, and independence. You do as you please without concern about what others think. And while that may be good on occasion, you’re better off being true to yourself AND being respectful of other people’s rights at the same time. Weekly mantra: What, me, selfish? Nooo. I am very people-centered.
TAURUS (Apr 20-May 20) Slow and steady progress is the type you cherish, and it shall be with you through your efforts this week. Your spirit is rising steadily on a positive curve although you still can’t see the obvious results. Patience is needed to manifest the best you yet. Weekly mantra: I trust in Divine timing.
GEMINI (May 21-June 20) Whatever can calm your mind and enhance your mental concentration shall be your go-to technique. Find a place where you can’t be bothered as you gather your scattered energies in order to be whole again. Identify the distractions in your life and resolve to minimize them. Weekly mantra: I know my way and stay focused on my path.
CANCER (June 21- July 22) Don’t be fooled by someone who activates your emotions in a warm and fuzzy way. This person may be trouble. Otherwise, take your own risks, since we all know how tenacious you can be. Just be careful, though. A windfall of wealth may arrive. Weekly mantra: I trust my gut instinct.
LEO (July 23-Aug 22) Practice seeing beyond the masks that others wear. Instead of being condescending, start from a position of assuming that your people are the best and most spirit-filled. Match them action for positive action. You are the leader, so you certainly set the pace when you become the fine example to everyone. Weekly mantra: I see the good in others.
VIRGO (Aug 22-Sept 22) Dear earth sign Virgo: you are truly blessed with stability, strength, security, and groundedness. Many people value your ability to tell it like it is. In the spaciness that spirituality may induce, help your allies not to get thrown off by life’s trials and tribulations. Be strong for them but encourage them to fight their own battles. Weekly mantra: I am solidly grounded for myself and others.
LIBRA (Sept 23-Oct 22) Before you take any action, first connect with your Higher Self. You are blessed with enlightenment, abundance, and success. You are a treasure, and you need to see yourself as such. Do not just give away your power or personhood. Your best assets are creativity and a loving heart. Weekly mantra: Everything I touch brings triumph.
SCORPIO (Oct 23-Nov 21) Follow the passions of your heart. By following your bliss, you will always have the inspiration and drive to fulfill your destiny. As you concentrate on your goals, the Universe will send you the right experiences and opportunities. So labor on with faith in your heart. Weekly mantra: As I follow my bliss, all doors open for me.
SAGITTARIUS (Nov 22-Dec 21) OK, Doreen Virtue, the “angel lady”, has found Jesus since January 2017. She has abandoned her previous endorsement of angels and other new age things. Whether you believe in Jesus, angels, other gods, or no one at all, here’s the great news: you can always believe in yourself. That’s the bottom line. Just do you. Weekly mantra: I am love, light, and protection.
CAPRICORN (Dec 22-Jan 19) Let go of any emotional wounds you’re still holding on to. Otherwise, the love and compassion that are trying to get into your heart and soul will not flourish. Adopt an attitude of openness and the obstacles in your existing relationships will be lifted, making these more stable and secure. Weekly mantra: I release hurt and embrace love.
AQUARIUS (Jan 20-Feb 18) Prosperity and happiness are states of the mind. You hold on to the vision, do your part, and then watch the good luck, good fortune, and good health come in. So do your best to contribute your part to your own good fortune. Weekly mantra: As I am grateful for my blessings, the more of these flow into my life.
PISCES (Feb 19-Mar 20) It’s time to reach out and think beyond your own needs and wants. To whom do you need to be a good, true-blue friend at this time? Surely your friends have looked out for you consistently. Now one or two of them need your love and loyalty. Do not disappoint to keep the friendships two-sided. Weekly mantra: I am loyal and loving to people.

Thank you, Salamat, Namaste, and Blessed be!

Going beyond your Sun Sign: What’s your Astro Trio? ***By Stargazer Bles

First of all, to forestall any confusion, what’s a Sun sign?

Also known colloquially as one’s “horoscope,” your Sun sign is actually your zodiac sign, your birth sign or natal sign by virtue of the month and day when you were born. The Sun happened to be in a certain sign when the miracle of your birth happened, and that is your Sun sign. Basic character delineations can be read in the astrology classic, “Linda Goodman’s Sun Signs,” if you want to get to know the man, woman, child, boss, and employee, described for all the twelve signs.
However, we are now getting away from simple Sun sign astrology and moving into understanding our Moon sign and Rising sign (a.k.a. Ascendant) as well. While your Sun sign says a lot about your basic character or ego, your Moon sign describes your emotional landscape, or how you react to situations. Meanwhile, your Rising sign or Ascendant is your public persona, the face you show the world.
Therefore, how do we determine your Astro Trio composed of your Sun, Moon, and Rising signs?
If I were to find this out for you, I would need your complete date, time, and city of birth. The best source is your birth certificate; next best: mother’s memory if still sharp. The most practical TIP I can give you about the usefulness of the Astro Trio is this: Memorize your Astro Trio signs, so whenever you read daily or weekly horoscopes, don’t just read about your zodiac/Sun sign but your Moon and Rising signs as well. That way, you get 2-3 times the guidance, unless you’re a 3-for-1, like a sweet triple Pisces person that I know.

The next step in your Astro Trio journey is to get to know yourself better. Since you already know your Sun/Moon/Rising, find out what makes yourself tick. For example, here’s my Astro Trio: Sun in Aries, Moon in Pisces, Leo Rising (Ascendant). Based on what I know about the descriptions of each zodiac sign, I could form many sentences to describe myself. Let’s try one: I am a leader/pioneer but I feel like my heart is in pieces and oh, others see me as a snobbish AF diva. Another possible self-description based on my Astro Trio: I am competitive yet compassionate and generous. Isn’t this Astro Trio concept a fun gateway to learn more about yourself through astrology?

An exact time of birth also becomes imperative in determining the “real” Sun sign of someone born on the cusp, for example: someone born on Sept. 22 may be a Virgo or a Libra. Based on the natal details provided by the native, the real zodiac sign could truly be assigned. Either she is a Virgo, or else she is a Libra, but she couldn’t be both. Personally, though, I have observed many people born on the cusp who seemed to embody the traits of both signs they straddle. Hmmm… topic for more research? We’ll see.
So what did we learn in this article?
1. What a Sun sign is, plus synonyms like “horoscope (colloq.),” zodiac sign, birth sign, natal sign
2. For the basics of knowing character traits for all 12 signs, see “Linda Goodman’s Sun Signs”
3. Astro Trio = Sun + Moon + Rising signs and the need for accurate birth data.

4. Using simple key words from each sign of your Astro Trio,  you can build sentences to describe your basic character, emotional/feeling nature, and (if possible) how others perceive you.

5.Natives born on the cusp also need to provide accurate birth data because strictly speaking, they “cannot” be a blend of 2 signs: either she’s one or the other, not both at the same time.
