Ever since I ordered ten, and I mean ten, total sheets of the “Views of Our Planets” stamps from the United States Postal Service (USPS) middle of last year, I’ve been one happy camper. Planetary aficionado that I am. I pay my bills with a song in my heart, knowing that I’ll be using my stamps to send them on their way. Too bad it’s not de rigueur anymore to send letters and cards by postal mail. Anyway, if you’ve heard of the old-fashioned adage, “collect, select, then reject,” pertaining to suitors, then may I just interject that when it comes to these USPS stamps, I’d rather collect, collect, collect all the way! In solidarity with Science and Earth Day.

CRYSTALS AND STONES…
… May heal my bones and they would never hurt me (to paraphrase)!
Yes, my peeps, I am here to tell you that certain crystals and stones, when used in conjunction with conventional and/or alternative therapies, have been shown to have a positive effect on our health. For instance, I wrote about the labradorite and how I had worn it primarily for its touted effect of lowering one’s blood pressure. Well, based on my consult last week with my internist, my BP reading went from 157/84 six months ago down to 148/87. Hey, my labradorite pendant is working! – as well as my lisinopril and nifedipine tabs, daily walking, modified diet, and regular reflection times, of course. Which one of these modalities worked?
In an ideal setup, we would have control and experimental groups. We would introduce the treatment to the experimental group while the control gets “nothing” or a placebo. We get to introduce one treatment at a time, see if it works or not for a set period of observation, and then move on to test the next treatment. If only it were this easy to conduct experiments on humans. I mean, yes, it can be done, but it’s costly, tedious, and time-consuming. So the way we ordinary humans do this is to try various treatments in a trial-and-error kind of way. Some of us stick to one tried-and-true therapy, while others combine healing modalities for maximum effect. The usual “personal screening” goes on in the way we manage our health: this works for me so I will continue using it, while that one didn’t do a thing for me so I’m stopping it. The preceding, of course, is done in coordination with your health care professional, but ultimately, you are still the top expert on your own spiritbodymind. So listen to it.
Now look what I found on a recent trip to Angel Light Books and Gifts in Berkeley: an orgonite (copyright Angellightstore.com). An orgonite is used to protect one from electromagnetic frequencies (EMFs). It reverses positive ions to negative ions, the negative ions being beneficial to the human body. Sacred geometry, crystals, and metals are used in each creation of orgonite. There are many kinds of orgonite at Angel Light.
So the one pictured here is an Archangel Michael orgonite (copyright Angellightstore.com). His name means, “He who is like God.” With his mighty sword he can cut cords and ties to things of a lower vibration and send it to the light to be transmuted. Invocation: “I call upon Archangel Michael to release all negative influence from my space and bless it with light and protection.” If we turn over the orgonite, we can see the crystals that this specific one is made of: Lapis – Opens up the third eye, protects from “evil eye”, enhances truth and wisdom; Black Tourmaline – Protection, releases negativity, blocks EMF. According to Ms. Valencia Chan, Angel Light store owner and metaphysician, an Archangel Michael orgonite, aside from being strategically placed near your computer workspace for protection against EMF, can also be used to clear your oracle cards with a simple prayer of, “St. Michael, please clear my deck of negative vibrations. Thank you.” This archangel-orgonite’s utility in clearing oracle cards (at present I have at least 20 decks) convinced me to choose it over the Ganesh, Archangel Raphael, Kuan Yin, Hamsa, and other orgonites on display. I was just thinking that orgonites might make a thoughtful gift to someone who works in front of a laptop or desktop all the time. There is also a pendant version of the orgonite for those who are frequent on-the-go users of mobile phones and other EMF-emitting contraptions.
Lastly, I turn 47 on the 4th of April: older, wiser, yet still burning with curiosity, eagerness to learn, and optimism. The fuel of my spirit is love. You ask what you can give me on my birthday. Well, just keep on reading what I write every week because as you can see, I love writing – and keep on leaving feedback on what you’ve just read, for the lifeblood of a writer are the reactions of her readers. If you want to take it to the next level and really help me, you can ask to consult me for astrology, angel, oracle, and tarot readings, in which case you can go to my FB business page for details and pricing – http://facebook.com/blessingsandlight.org
Maraming salamat, Mabuhay, Namaste, and Blessed Be! Thank you!

OH, THE STARS OF ARIES AND THOSE ARIES STARS!
What do Emma Watson, Emma Thompson, Ewan McGregor, and Luke Evans have in common? Well, aside from playing Belle, Mrs. Potts, Lumíere, and Gaston, respectively, in the 2017 version of “Beauty and the Beast,” these actor-celebrities are in fact all born under the sign of Aries! Fascinating! Well, at least to a fangirl-slash-astrologer-slash-busybody like me who keeps track of these things.
What is the significance of finding out that four of the main characters in the film have Aries as their zodiac sign? Zero Aries is the first degree that the Sun enters in the tropical zodiac system, and it did so last March 20th, signaling the first day of spring in the northern hemisphere and to us astrologers, the real New Year. Without getting too technical about it, let’s just agree that spring is a powerful period of time, a time for new beginnings, setting new intentions and acting upon them – simply because the Sun is at its exaltation in Aries, imbuing the days of spring with tremendous fiery energy. Just picture the Sun at its mightiest and most dignified, emitting life-giving heat and light. Such is the presence that the Sun lends to the Aries period.
Therefore, it comes as no surprise that with Emma Watson (Belle), Emma Thompson (Mrs. Potts), Ewan McGregor (Lumíere), and Luke Evans (Gaston), we simply have an Aries overload! There have been many excellent actors born with their Sun in Aries throughout filmic history, but if we focus even on these four contemporary luminaries, it’s not hard to imagine why their combined stellar power catapulted “Beauty and the Beast” to stratospheric box-office sales and salutary IMDB ratings. Here’s my brief rundown on how these four actors made an impression on me throughout the years: I “know” Emma Watson from her portrayal of “Hermione” from the “Harry Potter” film series, as well as in “The Perks of Being a Wallflower.” Standout performances from the esteemed actor-director Emma Thompson in my opinion are her roles in “The Remains of the Day” and “Love, Actually” (just wait until the scene where she discovers “something” in their room as she plays a CD of Joni Mitchell singing “Both Sides Now”… made me cry as silently as she did). Per the crackerjack Ewan McGregor, sorry I missed him in “Trainspotting” all those years ago, and I still haven’t watched that one yet although I hear a Part 2 is already in the offing. Ewan first made an impression on me in his vulnerable take on “Moulin Rouge,” while Luke Evans, with his Moon in Scorpio and intense eyes, caught my attention as the Count in “Dracula Untold.”
Of our four Aries stars, three were born on April 15: Emma Thompson, with her Moon in sensitive Cancer, was born April 15, 1959 (57 y/o); Luke Evans was born April 15, 1979 (37 y/o); Emma Watson, with her Moon in playful Sagittarius, was born April 15, 1990 (26 y/o). Ewan McGregor, with a Gemini Moon, was born on March 31, 1971 (46th birthday almost coming up). If you find any other mysterious connections, please feel free to share below. As they say in their wildly successful film, “Be our guest!”

My Ongoing Love Affair with Crystals and Stones
PICKS OF THE EGO AND SPIRIT
Let me state at the outset that my nascent interest in crystals and stones was stoked to full flame upon meeting Ms. Valencia Chan, the owner of Angel Light Books & Gifts located in Berkeley, CA, sometime in 2014. I was such in awe of her extensive experiential knowledge about not just crystals but all things metaphysical. In short, I was hooked and started slowly building my “rock” collection.
I remember that when I first visited the store and purchased a couple of things, she asked me to pick a stone from a generous basketful of such – but here’s the catch: I have to pick a stone with my eyes closed. It was Ms. Valencia’s tradition to allow first-time customers to do so. My blind pick turned out to be a ruby-fuchsite, a green-and-pink stone, which Ms. Valencia explained as having to do with healing my heart so that I can love again. Somehow throughout the years, I seem to have misplaced that beautiful stone. However, I took it to mean that that ruby-fuchsite has done its work with me and has moved on.
So also throughout the years, upon attending classes and buying stuff from Angel Light on an irregular basis (yes, you read that right: irregularly), I’ve had the privilege of being able to pick stones again, every once in a while. Apparently, a stone we pick with our eyes open is what our “ego” wants us to select: its color, feel, sheen, etc., may all appeal to our senses. However, a stone we pick with our eyes closed is what our Spirit wants us to choose, and in this case the spirit-stone’s message to us carries more weight.
For instance, take one of my spirit-picks, Rhodonite. It is a pink and black love stone. Black being one of the colors for the Root/Base chakra, the black in Rhodonite aids love by removing blockages, obstacles, and negative energies, allowing love to have space in one’s heart. Pink, of course, is the color of the Heart chakra, elevating one’s energy levels, while black is grounding so it can stabilize existing relationships. My personal experience with the color black is that it is not to be feared. It is actually to be appreciated, especially in stone or crystal form, since it brings emotional wounds and scars to the surface to be transmuted. So pink and black rock!
The next stone I want to introduce to you, Malachite, is a green stone with deeper green and/or black lines and whorls. It was one of my ego picks after I got an answer wrong in the “Crystal Awareness” post-class exam. The question went something like: What is the color of a healing stone and give some examples. So apparently the correct answer is “green” since it corresponds to the Heart chakra and this chakra balances itself. Some examples of green-hued stones are jade, emerald, and – you guessed it, malachite. Malachite has a high copper content, so it is said to aid in reducing inflammation and physical pain. Therefore: think green, think healing.
Here’s another spirit-pick of mine: Leopard Skin Jasper, related to the totem animal leopard. Apparently, when leopards stalk their prey, they are very focused, vigilant yet silent. Allow me to quote further from the “Crystal Wisdom Cards” as to the advice of this stone: “If you have a goal, keep it sacred by keeping it secret. When you reveal too much before it is ready, you dissipate the energy. Stay focused, stay vigilant, but keep quiet about it until it is ready to be revealed.” Leopard Skin Jasper urges us to be quiet and humble, reminding ourselves that we do not need other people’s approval to validate our worth.
Yet another spirit-pick of mine is Blue Lace Agate which is the crystal for communication and speaking one’s truth. Admittedly, I have a hard time expressing myself by speaking up due to self-doubt and second-guessing other people’s reactions. This light-blue stone is ideal for those who are anxious about public speaking, or for orators and teachers who want to expand their audience. Health-wise, it is said to be useful in the treatment of thyroid conditions, laryngitis, and speech impediments. Blue Lace Agate encourages us to be brave enough to express our authentic self.
Here is a stone that was mailed to me when I first ordered from Angel Light’s online store: Mookaite, the keyword for which is “exuberance.” Mookaite, with its shades of red and brown, is known as the anti-aging stone because it is said to bring renewed energy and vitality. Do you want to revive your sense of adventure? Would you like to gain the courage to try new things? Well, Mookaite could be the stone for you! It is also said to fortify the immune system, heal wounds, and purify the blood.
Let’s end with the Affirmation for Mookaite: Every day I am renewed in youthfulness and vitality. I have a zest for life and the exuberance to live life to the fullest!

My Ongoing Love Affair with Crystals & Stones
This week, please allow me to share with you some thoughts about my crystal collection. Let’s start with the three stones that I actually wear as pendants. Two of them are in fact strung as one pendant (see photos: it’s the more elongated pendant with the bigger blue piece and the much smaller black piece). The other greenish stone is a standalone with the fine copper “tree of life” or “Yggdrasil” patterning across.
The two-stones-in-one are Blue Kyanite and Black Tourmaline.
Blue Kyanite is also known as Blue Disthene or as Blue Cyanite. It is used at the 5th Chakra (Throat) or 6th Chakra (3rd Eye/Brow) for spiritual guidance and for enhancing one’s intuition. Blue Kyanite also promotes peace and compassion, stimulates creative energy, and enhances one’s personal exploration of his or her spiritual nature. This stone is also said to aid in communication with one’s spirit guides, totem animals, and guardian angels.
My personal experience with this stone is that it tends to give me vividly detailed dreams. It has also deepened my appreciation of God and Goddess, angels, faeries, the ascended masters, and other sources of precious, practical wisdom.
The much smaller stone embedded on top of the blue kyanite is the Black Tourmaline. Also known as Schorl or Aphrizite, this stone is used at the 1st Chakra (Root/Base) for protection against electromagnetic pollution and negative energy. It is a grounding stone, increasing physical energy and dispelling negative thoughts. Conversely, it works by enhancing positive thinking and creativity, and also by reducing stress caused by electromagnetic frequencies (the “dreaded” EMFs). Health-wise, Black Tourmaline is said to strengthen the immune system, decrease arthritis pain, and cleanse the physical and ethereal bodies. This stone is “protective coffee” for me: it keeps me awake and perky, and it minimizes negative energy.
Finally, the standalone teardrop-shaped greenish stone with copper wiring is the Labradorite. According to Ms. Valencia Chan’s “Crystal Wisdom Cards,” the keyword for Labradorite is “Magic.” Thus it aids in acts of magic, facilitating astral travel, regression, or ascension, and accessing the Akashic records and other esoteric knowledge. Labradorite, also known as Spectrolite, is used at the 6th Chakra (3rd Eye/Brow) or at the 7th Chakra (Crown) for protection, dispelling fears and negative energies, increasing conscious awareness and faith, and stimulating the imagination and creativity.
Labradorite facilitates intuition and psychic powers, mystical experiences, connection with the Divine energy of the universe, conscious awareness, and companionship. Labradorite balances the physical body with the etheric body. As such, it is said to remove stress, treat symptoms of the common cold, relieve arthritis pain, regulate hormones, and lower blood pressure.
As for my personal experience with my Labradorite: Well, the jury is still out. I bought this pendant to help lower my blood pressure. I haven’t seen my primary care physician yet so I don’t know if my BP is already showing signs of improvement. My BP as of Nov. 2016 was 157/84. The target is 139/89 or lower. I am due to see my doctor sometime soon. I will keep you posted.

My Ongoing Love Affair with Crystals and Stones
This week’s random picks are from the CRYSTAL WISDOM CARDS created by my friend and mentor, Ms. Valencia Chan of Angel Light Books & Gifts in Berkeley, CA. The theme suggested by our crystal picks this week is: “Growth and Transformation lead to Joy.”
Photo from L-R: Green Aventurine, Serpentine, and Citrine. They have a nice rhyming ring to them, don’t they?
1. Green Aventurine is all about growth, green being the color of nature and the natural progression of the universe. Green is also the color for healing, such that green aventurine is also used to promote peace and calm, prevent certain nervous and cardiac ailments, and encourage compassion. This stone is also said to aid in the increase of wealth and prosperity. If green aventurine could talk, it would tell you, “Do not rest on your laurels, but cultivate your gifts by investing in yourself and sharpening your skills.”
Green Aventurine Affirmation: I am always learning, growing, and improving myself, thus increasing my value to society.
2. Serpentine’s key word is transformation. Also known as New Jade, this stone is used at the 4th chakra (heart) to aid in meditation, enhance psychic powers, and direct energy to heal and cleanse the physical body. Much like the snake that sheds its skin upon outgrowing it, serpentine asks, “What needs to be released in your life so that something new can come in?”
Serpentine Affirmation: It is safe to let go. I know that nothing is ever taken away unless something better is coming.
3. Citrine possesses the golden color of the sun that brings joy, cheerfulness, and upliftment. Citrine increases creativity and intuition, increases self-esteem and confidence, and balances the emotions. It reminds you to lighten up, be more lighthearted, and have a sense of humor. Citrine asserts: Do not wait for the ‘right’ circumstances in order to be happy. Rather, choose joy right where you are.”
Citrine Affirmation: I always see the good in any situation and choose to be joyful regardless of the circumstance.
